Reflecting on my first week as an Apprentice
As expected, Sunday night excitement and nerves were sky-high prior to my first day in a new job.
Bright and early Monday morning, I stepped through the doors to Inter Scientific for the first time to be greeted by welcoming faces that instantly put me at complete ease as I start a new chapter of my life.
My new working environment
The Inter Scientific building consists of multiple laboratories and plenty of office space equipped with the latest technologies, enabling maximum comfort and productivity during the working day, and most importantly provides a safe working environment during a pandemic.
Why did I want an apprenticeship?
When I looked at my options for beginning a career in Digital Marketing, I felt an apprenticeship was the right route for me. An apprenticeship enables you to gain a qualification whilst in the workplace, therefore providing you with experience and also a salary whilst you work through your relevant training course.
I was fortunate enough to secure the job at Inter Scientific after being referred by my training provider, NowSkills (https://nowskills.co.uk), and undertaking a virtual interview with Cara Leach – responsible for Marketing.
How has the week progressed?
I’ve found myself comparing my learning process to a giant jigsaw puzzle; Day-by-day, more pieces of the puzzle are coming together and consequently things are becoming clearer and making more sense.
I’m not underestimating the size of the task ahead – I know my learning is going to be a slow process – but I’m looking forward to the challenges I’ll be faced with, and how the team will assist and equip me with the skills to progress and achieve a fulfilling career in the Digital Marketing field.
In summary, if anyone reading this is considering undertaking an apprenticeship, my advice to you is ‘GO FOR IT’! It’s a brilliant way of gaining a qualification, whilst earning a salary, and gaining valuable workplace skills and life experience.
